He was predeceased by: his parents, Don "Dutch" Metzger and Evelyn Metzger (Laug); his brother Terry Metzger; and his brothers-in-law, Denny Hosler and Jesse Dunlap.

He is survived by: his wife Cleo Hosler; his daughter Lauri Metzger (Terry Redmon); his grandchildren, Teresa Livingston (Gary), Joe Redmon (Kris) and Jen Wambaugh (Mike); his great grandchildren, Lance Osborne (Tammy), Tia McCormick (Cameron), Eric Redmon, Chad Redmon, Cole Wambaugh and Logan Wambaugh; his great great grandchildren, Gemma, Isla and Talia; and his in-laws, Darlene Hosler, Bonnie Dunlap and Anita DeLosSantos (Joaquin). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
