He was predeceased by: his father J. W. Burks, Sr.; and his grandmother Lorraine Burks. He is survived by: his mother Aletta Burks; his son Jalen D. Burks; his grandmother Mamie Sutton; and his siblings, Dollicia Burks, Rodney Burks (Michelle), Mahdi Mubashshir, Gelon Burks, Netria Starr, Marteceia Burks and Shaletta Burks. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
