He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Potts and Lizzie Mae Potts; and his siblings, Ed Rose, Nathaniel, James Potts and Florence.

He is survived by: his sisters, Eddie Mae Childrey and Landi Lee Walters (Benny); and his former spouse Gurdiarene Potts. He is also survived by sisters, nieces and nephews.
