He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Schaalma and Clara Schaalma (Zuidema); and his siblings, Dorothy Pulsifer, Betty Klootwyk, Harold, John and Ken Schaalma.
He is survived by: his wife Carol VanderJagt of Muskegon; his daughter Sandra Murphy (Brian); his grandchildren, Kayla Juarez (Luis), James North and Keigan Murphy; his great grandchildren, Adalynn, Loa, Theo Juarez, Ezra North and Often; and his brother Steven Schaalma.
Due to Covid-19, a memorial service will be held at Fruitport Congregational Church at a later date where Carol will be welcoming many post-Covid (hopefully) hugs.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Harbor Hospice Foundation or Fruitport Congregational church.
