He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Garrett Hoekenga and Esther Hoekenga (Bergren); his sons, Donald Hoekenga of Muskegon and Brian Hoekenga (Frances) of Norton Shores; his grandchildren, Laura Allen (Mark), Emily Solar, Samantha Green, Nicholas Green and Gabrial Green; his wife Mary; his daughter Patricia Green; and his brothers, Jim, Earl, Bob and Tom. He was also cherished by many nieces & nephews.
