She was predeceased by: her sisters, Maxine Larabee and Barbara Meister. She is survived by: her spouse Verlin Postema (Curly); her daughters, Patti Austin (Doug), Linda Dood (George), Barb Austin (Bill), Teri White (Bill) and Robin VanWormer (Scott); and her brother-in-law Werner Meister.
During the last several years she suffered from Alzheimer's and lived first at Muskegon Christian Care, and most recently at Sunnyside Assisted Living in Cadillac, Michigan.
