He was predeceased by: his parents, Marine Damvelt and Drussilla Damvelt; and his stepson Larry VanNoordwyk. He is survived by: his wife Norma; his children, LeAnn Gould (Roger) of Nunica and James Damvelt (Jenny) of Spring City, TN; his stepdaughter Linda Hawkins (Johnnie) of Muskegon; and his sister Mary Giangrande. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.
