He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Arthur Benedict, and Margaret Benedict, Jr. (Dwyer); and his brother-in-law Dr. Bruce McCarthy. He is survived by: his wife Sherry Benedict; his sons, Arthur Benedict IV, Todd Benedict (Julie), Matthew Benedict and Christopher Benedict (Sarah Seastrom); his grandchildren, Arthur (Danielle), Kathryn, Alexander, Addison, Gabrielle, Hadyn, Easton, Kat Grevel and Jude Grevel; his great grandchild Delaney; and his siblings, James Benedict (Marylou) and Peggy McCarthy.

Memorial contributions in Dick's honor can be directed to the Leukemia Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
