He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Thering and Ann Thering (McDonald); his siblings, Joe, Mary Lou and John "Jack"; his daughter Brenda; his wife Paula Lee Stegman; his in-laws, Joe Thering, Mary Lou, Lyle Willoughby, John "Jack" Thering and Ken Miller; his son-in-law Dave Recker; his nephew Brian Thering; and his niece Shelly Thering-Rau.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Melissa Foster (Howard) of Blanchard, Kelsi Karcher of Lake Isabella and Courtney Preston (Codee) of Blanchard; his great grandchildren, Brennen, Gunnar, Cason, Finley, Gage, Lane, Grant, Gavi and Gus; his siblings, Thomas Thering (Ellie), Jean Messersmith (Russ) of Grand Rapids, Jim Thering (Sarah) of Mt. Pleasant, Elizabeth Miller of Chicago, IL and Pat Thering of Mt. Pleasant; and his in-laws, Rose Thering and Connie Thering. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
