He is survived by: his wife Lela Marie Schmidt; his children, Nelson A. Brookins II, Rosette Jefferson (Danny), Laura Brookins-Mills and Linda Brookins; and his grandchildren, Lynn, Nelson III, Teri, Joshua, Jordan, Anthony, Kane, Brittany, Brandon and Jacqueline.
