He is survived by : his pet Peanut; his wife Vickie; his children, Stephanie Dexter (Kyle) and Kyle Schmidt (Stephanie); his stepson Nick Cody; his grandchildren, Jacob, Samantha, Sarah, Charlie and Cora; and his siblings, Russell (Ginny) and Glen Schmidt (Robin). He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

“Hi, very sorry to hear about Karls's death. Sailed quite a few miles with the family on Sassy in the 90's. Since then whenever I would happen to run in to Karl, he was always welcoming to me usually at the marina. Great guy! He certainly will be missed by many, I'm sure. Condolences to all. Terry Larivee”
