He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Ely and Elsie Ely (Morley); his wife Anna Mae Knicley; his brothers, Rex and Rodney; his stepdaughter Julie; and his sister-in-law Shirley.
He is survived by: his children, Dawn Housman (Ely) of Hudson and Kenneth Ely (Shonda) of Adrian; his adoptive son Danny Ely of Morenci; his stepchildren, John Canfield (Laura) of Fayette, Diana Maginn (Mark) of Fayette, Clifford Canfield (Julia) of Montpelier and David Canfield (Cindy) of Toledo, Ohio; and his brothers, William Ely (Jennifer) of North Adams, Francis Ely (Sharon) of Cement City and Joseph (Marty) of Tennessee. He is also survived by four grandchildren, eleven step grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nine step greatgrandchildren.
