She was predeceased by: her parents, Stephen Tinnel and Pearl Tinnel (Jones); her husband John Carter; and her siblings, Earnest, Audie Tinnel, Neva Graves and Wanda Vancel.

She is survived by: her daughter Cheryl Carter of Monroe; her brother Thomas Tinnel (Betty) of Milan, OH; and her brother-in-law Joseph Carter of Southgate. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
