He was predeceased by: his parents, John "Mickey" Swartz and Clara Swartz (Knapp); and his siblings, Wayne, Clyde, Jerry, Bill, Baby Blue and Pearl Thoresen.
He is survived by: his children, Deb Shamel (Shawn) of Vassar, MI and Jeff Swartz (Renee) of Davisburg, MI; his wife Nancy DuRussel; his grandchildren, Sophia, Carmen, Colton and Cayden; and his siblings, Roland Swartz (Cheryl "Dodo") of L'Anse and Amelia "Dolly" Sapcut of Baraga. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
