He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnie Holifield and Babe Tackett Holifield; his wife Ruby M. Holifield; and his siblings, Paul Holifield, Carl Holifield, Homer Caldwell, Jack Caldwell, Mary Mullins, Georgia Ann Henson, Geraldine Estep and Bea Newsom.
He is survived by: his children, John Holifield of Hemlock and Debbie Newport (Dwight) of Imlay City; his brother Tommy Holifield (Glenna) of Brazil; and his grandchildren, Mike Holifield (Sherry), Stacey Holifield, Mandy Beuchel (Matthew), Zachary Holifield, Tim Newport (Amanda), Doug Newport (Heather), Jessica Teller (Dan) and Johnathan Newport. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Wounded Warrior Project in his honor.
