He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshal Theodore and Julia Simmons (Selby); his sister Joyce; his brother-in-law Al Coffey; and his niece Phyllis VanderWeg.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Ann Simmons (Moeller); his children, Duane Schraeder (Jackie), Teresa Lins (Carl) and Merle Simmons, II (Dawn); his sister Marylyn VanderWeg (Jim); his grandchildren, Steve Hall (Kassie), Bradley Hall (Olivia), Austin Schraeder, Merle Simmons, III, Maison Simmons, Macain Simmons, Morgan Smith (Noah), Maguire Simmons and Millie Simmons; and his great grandchildren, Graycen Hall, Emersyn Hall and Taten Smith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
