He was predeceased by: his parents, Karl Schaffer and Gretchen Schaffer; his wife Sharon Pendell; his sister Nancy Lance; his niece Kathy Schaffer; and his nephew Kelly Schaffer.
He is survived by: his granddaughter Mackenzie; his daughters, Suzanne Blackmer (Charles) of Carson City and Amy Howes (Charlie) of St. Johns; his grandson Eli; and his siblings, Richard Schaffer (Janet), Mary Lou Schaffer, Max Schaffer (Barb) and Stan Schaffer (Carole). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
