He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Hawkins and Leitha Hawkins (Grow); his brothers, Lowell Hawkins (Ida) and Lawrance Hawkins (Joyce); and his sisters-in-law, Nancy Hawkins and Vikki Hawkins.

He is survived by: his wife Betty (Shank); his children, Robert Hawkins Jr. (Holly) of Virginia, James Hawkins (Christina) of Litchfield, MI, Linda Kelley (Thomas) of Indiana and Pamela MacCready (William) of Horton, MI; and his brothers, Owen Hawkins, Warren Hawkins (Deanna), Wayne Hawkins and Donald Hawkins (Sharon). He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
