He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Thompson and Ruth Thompson (Rowley); and his sister Sharon Kennedy (Ray). He is survived by: his wife Sharon (Hull); his children, Kim Kanik (Mark), Sherri Wiel (Alan) and Jeff Thompson (Nikhil Enugula); his grandchildren, Garrett, Aaron, Mitchell, Scott Kanik, Jacob, Amanda Wiel and Ayzule Thompson-Enugula; his brother Ron Thompson (Sue); and his nephew Tom Geistel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment of Vietnam and Cambodia to help maintain funds for their scholarship programs for Vietnam veterans' children and grandchildren (https://www.blackhorse.org).
