He was predeceased by: his father Herbert Westra; and his brother-in-law Charles O. Olson. He is survived by: his sisters, Kathleen Olson (Westra) of Mason and Maurita Lohrer (Gaylord); and his close friend Louie Schippers. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Contributions in his memory are directed to the disAbility Connection, formerly the Jackson County Society of Crippled Children and Adults, (409 Linden Ave, Jackson, MI 49202).
