He was predeceased by: his parents, Heinz Knierbein and Paula Knierbein (Otterpohl). He is survived by: his wife Marsha Knierbein; his children, George Knierbein (Kim) of East Lansing, Suzanne Endreszl (Chuck) of Garden City, Ryan Knierbein (Erin) of Ann Arbor and Heidi Knierbein of Waterford; his grandchildren, Collin, Cameron, Josef, Jacob, Quinn, Isaac, Lillian, Lindsay and Nicholas; and his sisters, Ida Hoeckenbecker and Helga Willenbrink.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
