He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Townsend and Mabel Townsend; and his siblings, Russell, Alvin, Larry Townsend, Charlene and Linda Townsend.
He is survived by: his wife Penny Townsend; his sons, Dale Townsend (Jennifer) of Waterford and Denny Townsend (Angie) of Clarkston; his grandsons, Derek and Vincent Townsend; his stepdaughter Clare Wrenn (Ron); his stepgrandchildren, Amy, Alex Wrenn, Samantha, Brittany and Ashley; and his stepgreat-grandson Jasper Wrenn.
