It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William R. Smith of Mendon, Michigan, born in Battle Creek, Michigan, who passed away on May 26, 2023, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Smith and Helen Louise Smith (Rowley); his spouse Daneel "Dannie" VanSchoick; his sister Judy; his brother-in-law Bill Iobe; and his stepdaughter Lisa Garland.
He is survived by: his former wives, Marie Falwell and Cynthia Valdez (Boyd); his children, James Smith (Angela) of Angola, William Smith of Elkhart and Sonnie Smith of St. Augustine, FL; his stepchildren, Tina Kent of Ovette, MS, Maria Kent of Colon and Doug Kent (Dawn) of Battle Creek; and his siblings, Shirley Wank (Doug) of Battle Creek, Mike Smith (Karen) of Joppa and Richard Smith (Tammy) of Athens. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
