With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joan Marlene Burkett of Mendon, Michigan, born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, who passed away on January 22, 2024 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel Wesley Neal and Helen Z. Neal (Wallus); her son Charles Francis Burkett; and her siblings, Wesley Samuel "Junior" Neal, John Neal (Nancy) and Alethea Ober.
She is survived by: her children, David Burkett (Naomi) of Sand-Coulee, Montana and Modesta of Kalamazoo; her grandchildren-in-law, Chambers, Maria Garman, Joan Burkett and Taya Voorde (Mike); her great grandchildren, Jordan Poindexter, DeJanee Poindexter, Destini Perkins, Erica Voorde, Anthony Voorde (Katlyn) and Zahari Chambers; and her siblings, Mike Neal and Tonya Ruggles (Norm). She is also survived by Eight great-great grandchildren.
It is suggested that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
