He was predeceased by: his parents, Nelson Maddox and Vera Maddox (Simmerman); his children, Nelson Maddox and Tina Sormunen; his grandson Cody Sormunen; and his siblings, Larry Maddox and Judy Kalnbach.
He is survived by: his son Derrick; his sister Barbara Berry (Ron "Ludy") of Gould City; his grandson Wyatt Sormunen; and his significant other Betty DeLong of Paradise. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
