He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Benson and Anna Benson (Swanson); his spouse Mariam D. Peterson; his siblings, Leonard, Art Benson, Mildred Benson, Dorothy George and Bernice Wondergem; and his stepson Doug Kroes.
He is survived by: his children, Gayle Grice (Steven) of Traverse City, Alan Benson (Debra) of Cadillac, Todd Benson (Marilee) of McBain, Heidi Benson of Tustin and Mary Jo Keelean (Eugene) of Cadillac; his daughter-in-law Linda Kroes of Cadillac; and his siblings, Robert Benson and Lucille Peterson of Cadillac. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; many great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Kidney Foundation.
