He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gilde and Mary Gilde (Cady); his wife Alice Walenjus; his parents-in-law, Iver and Lila Walenjus (Alice); his siblings, Francis (Grace Gilde), Helen (Cliff Gallop), Jeri Gilde, Gordon (Marie Gilde), Anna (Albert Burkholder), Irene (Bill Baker), Jim (Esther Norman) and Ken Gilde Sr.; and his sisters-in-law, Arlene Vandervlucht, Norma Rich and Kathy Walenjus.

He is survived by: his daughters, Jayne Dorman (Mark) and Jody Spaulding (Kevin); his grandchildren, Preston Dorman, Allison Sobieski (Nathan), Ayla Benavides (Brent) and Josh Spaulding; his great grandchildren, Isaiah, Willow Benavides and Grace Sobieski; his sisters, Cora Goresch (Paul) and Joyce Seelye (Doug); and his parents-in-law, Tony Walenjus, Susan Nees (Bill) and Tykie Beerens.
