With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of David Downey Simpson Sr. of Mayville, Michigan, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 17, 2024 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As David Downey departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved David Downey. Though David Downey may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Simpson and Winifred Simpson; his wife Claudia; his daughter Nadine; his granddaughter Tiffany; and his brothers, Robert and Dick.

He is survived by: his children, Kimberly McKellar, Kelly Warren (John) and David Simpson Jr. (Kelly); and his siblings, Virginia Churchill and Donald Simpson (Carla). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 21st 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Avram Funeral Home (6028 Lincoln St, Mayville, MI 48744). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 21st 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
