He was predeceased by: his parents, Amos Monroe and Vanna Belle Samples. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Frank Samples (Mary Ann), Scott Samples (Jean) and Beth Privette (Dale); his grandchildren, Ashley Samples (Dustin Radney), Lindsay Samples (Gabe Chapman), Caleb Samples (Georgia Siler), Steven Privette (Autumn Greene), Renee Privette, Luke Privette and Amos Privette; his great grandchildren, Smith, Arden Radney, Hailey, James Chapman and Orrin Edwards; and his brothers-in-law, Paul Arbuckle (Betty Jean) and Dan Arbuckle (Sue). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
