He was predeceased by: his parents, William Simmons and Lilly Simmons (Linn); and his wife Margaret "Peg" Waidely. He is survived by: his children, Ron Simmons (Carol) of Marshall, Kim Simmons (Judith) of Gowen, Lisa South (Roger) of Marshall and Craig Simmons (Elizabeth) of Petoskey, Michigan; his grandchildren, Jennifer Simmons, Meghann Gorby (Brett), Louis Simmons (Courtney), Christa Hamran (Stefan), Erin Simmons (Rob Shelley), Sarah Leonard (Owen), Jacob Simmons (Myrica), Hanna Simmons and Natalie Simmons; and his sister Phyllis Alexander of Archie, Missouri.. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the Marshall Athletic Boosters or First Baptist Church in Marshall.
