She was predeceased by: her parents, Michael Sawchuk and Olga Sawchuk. She is survived by: her husband Joseph Szczur; her pets, Kodiak and Blazer; her siblings, Theresa Erickson (Jack) and Dave Sawchuk (Carmen); and her siblings-in-law, John Sczcur (Cynthia), Kathy Miller (Ken) and Karen Szczur Klein. She is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews, 9 great nieces and nephews and countless good friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Vera's memory to Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter (UPAWS) and Disabled American Veterans.
