He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Schmeling (Bob) and Dorothy Schmeling. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his daughters, Joani of Philadelphia, PA and Leslie (Ethan Sundheim) of Omaha; his pet Kona; his sister Jeanene Brandt (Greg) of Lake City, MI; his brothers-in-law, John Hebert (Margo) of Milford, MI and Bill Hebert (Alane) of Portland, OR; his stepsisters, Suzie Baum (Jonathan) of Great Barrington, MA, Julia Rubel (David) of Chatham, NY, Rebecca Moulton (John) of Horton, MI and Elsa Banks of Milwaukee, WI; his nephews, Ryan Brandt (Adrienne) of Chelsea, MI, Kyle Brandt (Amber) of Kentwood, MI and Ben Hebert of Philomath, OR; his niece Kellie Hebert-Follin (David) of Suttons Bay, MI; his great-nieces, Sydney and Winslow Brandt; and his great-nephew Kellan Brandt.
