He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Truitt and Lenora Truitt. He is survived by: his wife Gloria Smith; his children, John Truitt (Jennifer) and Laura Farnsworth (Zane); his grandchildren, Sarah Wachnicki (Austin) and Zane Farnsworth; his great grandchildren, Everleigh and Vivianna Wachnicki; and his sister Dolores Martin (Richard). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
