He was predeceased by: his parents, Gertrude Heidemann (Coleman) and Richard E. Heidemann; his son John Richard; and his sisters, Helen Mallgren and Gretchen Turner.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth E. Heidemann (Vartti); his children, Janis LaFreniere (Lee) of Ishpeming, Jeffrey Heidemann (Ann Mason) of Basalt, CO, Julie Heidemann (Julie Wydeven) of Appleton, WI, Debra Nance of Marquette, Terie Clark (Richard) of Pembine, WI, Lisa Richards of Ishpeming, Craig Nance (Dannilynn McCoy) of Merrill, WI and Brett Nance (Julie) of Gwinn; his siblings, Roberta Young of Marquette and Peter Heidemann (Susie) of Ewen, MI; his grandchildren, Kate, Marie, Robert, Allen, Joseph, Hanna, Katie, Kayla, Kaylen and Christopher; and his great grandchild Atreus "AJ". He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
