He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard DeMerse and Olivia "Marie" DeMerse (McCoy); his former wife Robin; his grandsons, Cameron and Connor DeMerse; and his brother-in-law Marvin Boyer.
He is survived by: his wife Janet; his son Shawn DeMerse (Elizabeth) of Celina, Texas; his stepdaughters, Crystal Zalewski of Detour, Michigan and Jodi Vredenburg (Jeremy) of Detour, Michigan; his granddaughter Mykala; and his sisters, Juanita "Punky" Hill (James) of Sault Ste, Nancy Ellison (Clyde) of Colorado and Jane Boyer of Sault Ste. He is also survived by niece; and many nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Family Life Funeral Homes - Sault Ste (4951 M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
