He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Cheney and Ruth Cheney (Patterson); his in-laws, Erling and Gertrude Olsen; and his siblings-in-law, Vernon, Morgan, Dennis Olsen, Judy Van Landuyt, Lori Starkel and Mary Young.
He is survived by: his wife Della "Kiki" Cheney of Marquette; his children, Melissa Boniface (Jason Larson) of Marquette, Todd Cheney (Jessica) of Marquette, Bryan Cheney (Rachel Tiziani) of Negaunee, MI and Erin Gorecki (Andrew) of Traverse City, MI; his sister Paula Miller (Larry) of Keene, NH; his grandchildren, Mary, Zoe, Gibson, Max, Oliver, Hattie, Larry, Nora and Hayes; and his caregiver Michael Crocker.
