She was predeceased by: her parents, Leslie Roy and Mary Helene Brown; and her brothers, Darwin Brown and Elwood Brown. She is survived by: her husband Walter; her sister Doris Johnson; her children, Nancy Van (John), Hof, Susan, Jeff (Dawn), Phil, Kevin (Teresa) and Amy Sloboda; her great-grandparent U. S. Senator Robert Wilson; and her grandfather George Estes. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 11 nieces, 10 nephews, and 12 cousins.
The Estes line of male descendants included the Hanoverian (Guelph) branch of the Estes family who became kings and queens of Great Britain during the 18th and 19th centuries – King George I through Queen Victoria ("Collins' Peerage of England," House of Este, Vol. 1, pp 1-24, by Sir Egerton Brydges, K.J.: Page 1: "The House of Brunswick possesses such founded claims to antiquity and importance that it has engaged a more than ordinary share of the attention of genealogists and historians. The celebrated Leitnitz, in particular, who passed forty years at the court of the Dukes of Hanover, laid the foundation of five volumes of folio." Lois was also proud of being a descendant of Charlemagne through thousands of branches of her family tree. Among her family she was known for her love of antiquing, her dogs, and her backyard wildlife sanctuary, but especially fishing. She was lovingly called the "fishing goddess" and "queen of the cane pole". On family fishing outings she was always the first and last person to catch a fish during the day. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and pharmacists who provided exceptional care to Lois over the years. A private family ceremony and burial have already taken place. In memory of Lois, and in lieu of flowers, please consider a charitable contribution to Kid's Food Basket, The Nature Conservancy, or your local animal shelter).).
