He was predeceased by: his father Ronald F. Brief; his grandparents, Floyd, Nellie Brief, Orville and Thelma Lambert; and his uncles, James Brief, Deneen Lambert, Wayne Lambert and James Brandibur.

He is survived by: his mother Doris Ann Brief (Lambert) of Frankenmuth; his brother Ron Brief (Mary) of Kingston; his aunts, Sharon Brandibur of Kingston, Toots Lambert of Marlette and Beverly Brief of Albion; his nieces, Elizabeth LaPouttre (Brandt) of Essexville and Kristina Brief (Ryan Boyd) of Sandusky; his nephew Jonathan Brief (Chelsey) of Sterling Heights; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Connar Brief, Brandt, James, Rayna LaPouttre, Alayna, Lola Boyd and Linzi Jenkins (Dakota). He is also survived by many cousins and close friends.
