She was predeceased by: her parents, Ralph Bates and Elma Bates (Britton); her siblings, Robert Bates, Norma Parsons (Robert), Arlene Shull (Marlin) and Ruth Myers; her siblings-in-law, Jane Bates, Bev Bates, Virginia Dagen (Wayne) and Harold Miller (Elaine); and her son-in-law Jason Chi.
She is survived by: her children, Margo Chi of East Lansing, Marvin Miller (Linda) of Evart, Karen Gourd (David) of Seattle Washington, Chuck Miller (Penny) of Marion, Brian Miller of Marion, Mary England (Frank) of Marion and Kevin Miller (Denise) of Marion; her siblings, Donald Bates of Branch, Merl Bates of Luther and Marian Teachout of Lansing; and her sisters-in-law, Aileen Miller of Caledonia and Ruth Pelcher of Shipshewana, Indiana.. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
