He was predeceased by: his parents, Andy Akers and Clara Akers (Williams); his son Larry Douglas Akers Jr.; and his sisters, Lou Corbin and Yvonne Burgett.
He is survived by: his children, Christopher Akers, Angela Pickford (James), Laurie Gogolin (Scott), Adrian and Casandra Fuller (Josh); his grandchildren, Amanda, Megan, Ben, Taylor, Trey, Ava, Cassidy and Abbie; his great grandchildren, Charlie, Zoltan and Tucker; and his siblings, Glen "Dave" Akers, Joanne Brown Clayton (John), Rona Butts (Gene) and Adrian.
Memorial donations may be given to the Wounded Worrier Project or Hospice of Lenawee.
