It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Howard Berning (Manitou Beach, Michigan), born in Toledo, Ohio, who passed away on March 28, 2020, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph I. Berning and Mary M. Berning (Schoepf); his wife Jeannette E. Wamer; and his brother Paul W. Berning (Mary) of Toledo. He is survived by: his children, Timothy L. Berning of Toledo, Bruce A. Berning of Toledo, Carol A. Phillips (Michael) of Oregon, Jane E. Finkbeiner of Manitou Beach and Phyllis Jo Berning (Diana) of Kentucky; and his sister Mary "Eileen" Pinkava of Sylvania. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.
