He was predeceased by: his parents, George Carlson and Helen Carlson (Miller); his sisters, Sandy Martin and JoAnne Daunt; and his brothers-in-law, Ron Bosanic and Ed Daunt.

He is survived by: his wife Glenda Williams; his children, Todd Carlson (Bethany) of Manistique, Shawn Carlson (Stefane) of Manistique, Brody Carlson (Stephanie) of Manistique, Aletta Carlson of Muskegon, MI and Bethany Schroeder of Manistique; his brothers, Paul Carlson (Katie) of Michigan and David Carlson (Denise) of Michigan; his brother-in-law Richard "Chuckles" Martin; and his sisters, Janet Heinz (Paul) of Manistique and Eva Caron (Glenn) of Gwinn, MI.. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a future designation.
