He was predeceased by: his parents, Ronald Fiegel and Edna Fiegel (Bloom); his son Robert "Bob" Fiegel; his sister Joyce Shackle; and his grandson Joseph Lee Osterhout.

He is survived by: his wife Helen Fiegel of Manistique, MI; his daughters, Jane Salo (Gary) of Manistique, MI and Terri Evonich (Rudy) of Manistique, MI; and his daughter-in-law Fran Fiegel of Cooks, MI. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
