He was predeceased by: his parents, Winifred Lyon Sr. (Stray) and George Lyon. He is survived by: his wife Mary Lyon of Manistique; his children, George Howard Lyon III (Jeanne) of Naperville, IL, Dale Douglas Lyon (Carrie) of Graham, TX, Christopher Clark Lyon of San Antonio, TX, Jean Ellen Willour (Charlie) of Manistique and Martha Mary Johnson (Howie Scheer) of Manistique; and his grandchildren, John Lyon, Mary Lyon, Melissa Mulvanney, Sarah Lyon, Georgia Johnson, Oscar Johnson, Charlie Willour Jr. and Eric Willour. He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in Howie's name may be directed to the Manistique Lions Club – Sight and Hearing Fund, the Manistique Environmental Lab, or the Schoolcraft Community Foundation.
