Christopher Leo Gonyea Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Christopher Leo Gonyea of Manistique, Michigan, born in Chicago Heights, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 11, 2025 at the age of 57. He was predeceased by: his father Leo Gonyea; his uncle John Stapleton; his father-in-law Roy Johnson; and his stepfather Rodger Swanson. He is survived by: his wife Karen (Johnson); his children, Corey (McKenzie Mickelson) of Manistique and Kelsy of Manistique; his mother Shirley Swanson of Munising; his mother-in-law Phyllis Johnson of Marquette; his sisters, Ann Gonyea, Sarah Paradise and Katherine Nel (Etienne) of Palatine, IL; and his sister-in-law Beth Moilanen (Dale) of Gwinn.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Fausett Family Funeral Home (211 Arbutus Ave, Manistique, MI 49854). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 at 5:30 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Manistique Area Schools' Foundation or the Schoolcraft County Community Foundation, honoring his legacy as a Manistique Emerald and his lifelong dedication to helping others.
