He was predeceased by: his father Harold Ulrich; his son Robert John Ferguson, Jr.; his brother Don Ferguson; and his son-in-law Mark Ulilain. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Ferguson; his children, Jeffrey Ferguson, Karen Molner (Kevin) and Lisa Ulilain; and his sister Deanna VanTassel. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
