He was predeceased by: his parents, Vincent Kurkowski and Theresa Kurkowski (Strzalkowski); and his nephew Adam Ventimiglia. He is survived by: his wife Barbara J. Nowak of Mark's Parish; his sister Phyllis Ventimiglia (Joe); his nephews, Anthony Ventimiglia (late Kat) and Phillip Ventimiglia (Jessica); his siblings-in-law, Gregory Nowak (Nora), Teri Gajos (Dennis) and Lisa Kinsman (Larry); his nieces and nephews, Russell Gajos (Andrea), Scott Gajos (Natalie), Emily Bender (Erek) and Chelsea Smith (Edward); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Johnny, Rosalie, Logan, Parker and Cooper.

Visitation was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Hauss-Modetz Funeral Home (47477 Romeo Plank Rd, Macomb, MI 48044). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A celebration of life was held on Sunday, November 3rd 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Fern Hill Golf Club (17600 Clinton River Rd, Clinton Twp, MI 48038).
