He was predeceased by: his stepfather Ed Biesel. He is survived by: his children, Erica Steele (Thomas), Alex Rankin and Sarah Stepp-Wright; his grandchild Kenzie Steele; his siblings, John Rankin, Henry Rankin (Ellen) and Catherine Rankin; and his close friend Donna Vance.
