He was predeceased by: his parents, John and Doris Gerard. He is survived by: his wife Donna; and his children, Phil Gerard (Diane), Becky VanLaan (Phil), John Gerard (Lori), Dolly Johnson III (Bill), Jim Gerard (Polly) and Betsy Voetberg (Rick). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Lowell.
