He was predeceased by: his parents, William John Leonard and Nettie E. Smith (Burandt); and his brother Donald Smith. He is survived by: his wife Madeline Ann Conte; his children, Curt Smith (Linda) of Tucson, AZ and Karen Herdman of Fenton; his grandsons, John William Herdman of Fenton, Luke A. Herdman of Fenton and James C. Herdman of Lapeer; and his sister-in-law Donna Flax (Pete) of Clinton Township. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
